WW2 Gruen Veri-Thin belonging to Technician 5th Grade James D Cook 7th Armoured Division Bronze Star Holder. 
 

​Citation :

Technician Fifth Grade James D. Cook (Army Serial Number 36234886), Military Police, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in France on 17 August 1944. Entered the military service from Wisconsin.

 

Part of 7th Armoured Division ( Lucky Seventh ) who landed at Omaha and Utah Beaches in August 1944 and were thrown straight into heavy fighting. 

 

In WW2 soldiers in a lot of cases bought their own watches, they didn't all get Military Issued Watches. Gruen whilst heavily engaged on producing Military Timers for the US Government and not included with Bulova / Elgin/ Waltham in the design and construction of the A11 produced their version of a Military Watch and that is what we have here. 
 

The case is chrome plated with a steel back and is in very good condition the grey/ black dial in excellent condition 

Inside is a 17 Jewel Lever Movement signed Gruen Watch Co.

 

Cosmetically overall in very good condition and running well
