This is a bit special, the watch is a c.1914 Sterling Silver Unbranded Trench Watch, the case was designed by Francois Borgel, so this is an Officers Watch.

We believe the officer in question is Lieutenant Harold William Goldring hailing from Sydney, he and his brother enlisted at the same time, he was posted as a Signaller, he was 24 years old  and an officer in the 12th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, Landing at Anzac Cove in the Dardanelles he was shot in the neck on the 13th May 1915 at Gallipoli. And was transferred back to the UK for treatment.

The engraving attests to the watch having been given to him by his friends on his departure to the front or in his case the Dardanelles.

By a strange twist of fate his Father who was a Jeweller by profession was killed in an Air Raid whilst in London and is buried in a Cemetry in Willesden North London.

This is a Hero's Watch and is in very good condition case and dial are fairly unscathed considering it's history.
