1927 Bulova Lone Eagle ( Lindbergh) Gents Dress Watch

In 1926 Bulova offered a prize of $1000 to the first pilot to successfully make a non stop flight across the Atlantic previously  a further $25,000  had been offered by another entrepreneur, a few tried and paid with their lives  however on May 20th 1927 a little known aviator named Charles Lindbergh flew non stop across the Atlantic in his plane Spirit Of St Louis, arriving at Le Bourget Airport in Paris. This was a sensation.

In 1926 this watch was a slow selling model called the Bulova Conqueror but seeing  the marketing potential of the association with Charles Lindbergh, a swift name change of this model to the Bulova Lone Eagle which was the. released on the 17th June 1927 and the company sold 5000 of these watches in around 3 days ! Such is the power of marketing !

This is only the second of these we have ever had and they don't come up that often.

The case is 14ct White Gold Filled and is in very good condition as is the dial.

Inside the case is a Bulova 9AT movement with the Square Date stamp signifying 1927 as the year of Manufacture

Cosmetically overall in very good condition and running well.
