1916 WW1 Mappin Sterling Silver British Officers Watch
Mappin & Webb of London were one of the prestigious stores where Military officers of both the Army & Navy bought their timepieces, in fact Mappin & Webb supplied watches from 1914 to the Admiralty so conceivably this could be a Naval Officers watch. Mappin produced their own range called the Campaign which featured from the 1898 Battle of Omdurman in which Winston Churchill partook all the way through to the mid 20th Century. This watch isn't one of those.
This distinctive watch has a Sterling Silver case and has a London Hallmark for 1916, it is stamped with the initials AB which stand for Arthur Baume of Baume & Co who were also the British distributors of Longines Watches in the UK. The case is in very good condition, the dial has a tropical look but is still very readable.
Inside the case is a 15 Jewel Lever Swiss Pin Set Movement
