WW1 1915 Sterling Silver Trench Watch belonging to Thomas Killen Royal Artillery Regiment.

Thomas Killen hailed from Cheadle Hulme in Cheshire was considered not fit enough to serve in the Trenches and was employed in the Royal Artillery Regiment as initially a Bombardier and then Lance Corporal manning what was then a fairly new thing which were Anti - Aircraft Batteries. The First World War was the first war where civilians were targetted by bomber aircraft and or by Zepplins, previous the notion of aircraft flying over cities and raining bombs down on the population was unheard of. Thomas Killen was one of those new breed of gunners whose job was to shoot down air balloons or aircraft.

The watch itself is unbranded but the Sterling Silver case Hallmarked London 1915 and with the George Stockwell import mark is in very good condition, the dial shows little signs of ageing. Inside the case is a 15 Jewel Swiss movement.
