c.1944 Record 'Dirty Dozen' Record British Army Watch

Towards the end of the Second World War the British Ministry of Defence placed an order for some custom-built wristwatches. These needed to be accurate, reliable and durable, and also be waterproof and shockproof.

They also had to have a black dial, Arabic numerals, luminous hour and minute hands, luminous hour markers, a railroad minute track, a shatterproof crystal, and a stainless-steel case. They  would all have 15-jewel movements, measuring between 11.75 and 13 lignes.

Twelve Swiss Brands filled this brief: Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. They all had the WWW mark on the back ( Watches.Wrist.Waterproof) and both a Military and Civilian number.

Of  the Record Military Watches only 25,000  Watches were produced, of which this is one.

The steel case has as you can see in the pictures has seen action as it's certainly not pristine, the dial also shows some wear, however it's about as authentic as it gets. The movement is working very well and keeping good time.
